Artober 2024 - Week 4

Unfortunately—and for reasons I will not disclose—I hit a complete wall and cannot finish Artober all the way to the end this year. That’s okay. I will focus more on picking things back up with the webcomic and applying for grad school.

He was told it says something slutty.

The quote is from a screenshot of a Tweet by Ovaryactor. I found it a while back and my immediate thought was Oh my god, it’s Beat about Ruckus. . .

. . . or Whoo about Jingles, honestly.

Day 24 and 25 - New Artist Name

This one is my new profile picture for Instagram, Cara, and Facebook. It features my weird birdsona in a psychedelic haze. Fun colors and a little cursed—just the way I like it.

I decided to change my handle on all socials to gooie_muffin or gooiemuffin because I don’t like CraftiYetti anymore. Gooie Muffin has been a beloved username of mine since my first Runescape account when I was 13, so it only made sense to run with it. I’ll keep my Substack subdomain (which can be changed only once without breaking links) the same until I am confident about changing it.

Also, yes, I am aware that Gooie should be spelled Gooey—again, I was 13. Ahh, good times. . .

Day 26? - Pumpkin Time!

I’m counting this because I’m tired (look, it’s a raven!).

My Next Big Dream

In my farewell speech to the Japanese elementary school, I had promised—half to my students and half to myself—that I would go back to America to pursue my “next big dream.” Before I finished undergrad, my ultimate career goals were to 1. Teach English in Japan, and 2. Go into Library Science.

I waffled about it for a couple of years while on JET. I’d heard it was a difficult field to break into, that the good jobs were sparse, well. . . I was told getting into the JET Program would be difficult, and look where I am now. Job hunting has been such a soul-crushing slog that I decided, you know what? Fuck it.

One Google search and an information session later: I decided to just go for it. I will apply to the Masters of Library and Information Science program at the University of Washington!
